Architecture

Hello!  Happy Friday everyone!  We made it to another weekend!  :)  I wanted to pop in and share a thought I had.  You know I have been on a simplicity kick here lately, and I have been scouring Pinterest for inspiration!  I am a sucker for some great architectural detailing in a home.  I started to notice though that when homes had great features like exposed brick, wood-planked ceilings, etc. the decorating was quite simple.  Here are a few examples:  CAUTION:  the following pics may make you drool on your keyboard, so go now and grab some tissue....I'll wait.  :)

Ok, now that you are back, here are the pics!  You may go here to get original sources for all of these pics!  (Some of the links lead to nowhere which is why I haven't linked to each site under the pics...I don't know where they came from!  Sorry!)

Your eye is drawn to the beams and the walls in this pic because the decorating is very minimal.

Hellooooo gorgeous!  This one speaks for itself!  That island!  The ceiling!  The archways!  I could go on and on!

Again, very minimal decorating since the tub and the wall is in the spotlight!  Oh, that tub!

Here the ceiling is allowed to be the focal point and those beautiful HUGE chandeliers!

Lots of great molding here and did you check out that ceiling?  LOVE!

I have featured this pic before, but it's another great example of simple decorating with lots of impact because of the great architectural elements going on in this room!  BTW, those beams on this ceiling look so easy to DIY!

When I have my own house one day, I want lots of architectural detailing!  It makes such a statement and makes decorating easy and uncluttered.  I think if you had a lot of accessories or too many colors and textures in any of these rooms, it would make them feel very heavy.  I like light, open, airy rooms!

Have a great weekend!  God bless!
